Is one way really better than the other

So I was talking to one of my writer friends and she was telling me that she recently had one of her stories posted on a site for a review/edit. Okay....no big deal. We all do that, I have this amazing friend that I love.....Danielle.....who lets me bounce my edits off of her. She runs one edit while I run another. I'm the type of person that does what I lovingly call word vomit. I toss everything on the page and then go back to edit. I know that it probably pisses my friend off but god love her, she know my writing style and 9 times out of 10 we both end up having the exact same edits.

Anyway, back to my friend. She posted her short story and the person that picked up the edit sent her back some very, very unkind edits. We're not talking like, you missed a period here or you missed a word there. We're talking things like: "This paragraph is laid out totally wrong. You should read my story for a better idea on how to lay it out."  or  "You might want to read my story for a better idea on how a couple should appear in a story. Having the romance bloom so late, just doesn't work." Every edit/suggestion she made referenced my friend going back and reading her story for ideas or suggestions on how to write.

What she was basically saying is that the way my friend was writing was not good and that HER way of writing was the correct way. Is there really a better way of writing a story versus another? I've read my friends story and thought it was really well written and it flowed good so hearing the edits that were suggested, surprised me. Personally I think that all that matters is the story. I don't believe that there is one better method of writing or laying out of a story. Is this just me? Did I really miss the memo about the way of writing that all writers should be using now?

Digital Digest has gone live!

July 1st is the day that Digital Digest went live. It's the wonderful blog that I am part of us along with 15 other authors. You're going to read some amazing works on the blog and I can't speak more highly of them. DD is the place that you can read some of Wildcat and some of the first book in the Soteris family series, And Justice for All.

In our first Volume you can check out the first Chapter of Wildcat, you'll meet Prudence Wellington. She's operator of the Wellington Animal Center, that was started by her mother. Caleb Finnegan, just bought the Wellington Animal Center and has reappeared back in Prudence's life after disappearing from her life ten years ago.  I think you'll like her and Caleb, very much.

I can't wait for you guys to read them. Please stop by and check out the blog, I don't think you guys will be disappointed at all. You can check them out Digital Digest. If you like what you read, please stop by and check out our books at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Fresh Start

So I decided to scrap my old site and start all over again from scratch, that was a hard decision but one I think that needed to be made. I'm currently working on several different stories right now all while I'm moving. What makes it worse is that I'm still part of the "old school" group that likes to hand write things down in notebooks still. Sometimes I think it's just easier to scribble ideas in a notepad and then being able to go back and look at what I've done.

So I'm still working on Book One for the Soteris Family, An Apple A Day but I'm also working on a new book called Wildcat. It's about Prudence Wellington and Caleb Finnegan and revolves around around The Wellington Animal Center. I've had Prudence floating around in my head for years and she finally decided that it was time for her to come out and be heard. If you want to read more about the two of them the hop over to the the Digital Digest blog. Chapter One will be posted on the 12th of July. You'll also be able to read some other amazing authors while waiting for the first chapter.

Once I get settled in my new place I will be able to post update more often and I'll share more information about the Soteris Family and the Wellington Animal Center.
